What exactly is a psychic medium?

A psychic medium is a person who is believed to have the ability to communicate with spirits, should or non physical consciousness. The word itself ‘medium’ means a channel or bridge and this is simply the role the medium attempts to play.

The medium mind is like a radio beacon that can tune into any existing frequency, just like a remote viewer can visit a physical location using their consciousness. The medium tunes into channels to receive information, this is the same way a creative musician, artist or actor can receive divine inspiration.

Many mediums report their journey began with a heightened sense of awareness and empathy, noticing things others didn’t. Whether that is sensing the emotions in a room, or experiencing full colour images or scenes within the mind that seemingly come out of nowhere.

What does mediumship mean?

Mediumship refers to the practice of communicating with non-physical consciousness. Including loved ones who have passed away, spiritual guides, ancestors or even the collective consciousness.

Mediumship typically focuses on the psychic Clair’s to communicate, however some may use forms of divination to clarify meanings or get more information around an area, such as tarot, scrying, astrology. This is because mediumship can be energetically taxing on the body, it can be physically exhausting when connecting to some energies, so tools can be used to aid the process.

My first partner would fall asleep and allow spirit to communicate through her – her body would reanimate, her voice would change and a little girl would speak through her telling me things about my childhood that nobody could have known. After this my partner would need to sleep for 3-4 hours, if I woke her up she would be dazed as if she’d just woke from a 5 year hibernation.

Psychic Vs Medium – What is the difference?

A psychic reads energy, they may perceive intuitive information about someone’s emotional state, they may get a hunch that something bad may happen. Whereas a medium communicates with spirit, usually passing messages between both parties, spirit and matter.

All mediums are psychic, but not all psychics are mediums. Psychic senses develop early in the process of spiritual awakening, whereas the ability to communicate is much more advanced and requires more practice and developing basic psychic skillsets first which includes your awareness & controlling your mind.

How does mediumship work?

A medium will receive information through the Claire senses, a set of psychic perception abilities that mirror the physical five senses. They may receive images, full movie like scenes, sounds, words, or a sudden knowing feeling. Often these need to be symbolically decoded as communication can be exhaustive for some spirits who are learning to communicate with us so a single image flashing may be all they initially receive.

When connecting to spirit I typically see the person flash within my mind. They may have certain features that they did or didn’t have in reality, these can be used to communicate ideas to us. For example a client’s grandad appeared and they had liver spots on their head which was that spirits way of communicating they had liver problems later in life. As this person was recently passed they may not have been able to communicate in more than one image, ie. The picture of them and a picture of a damaged liver, so they used symbols I was able to decode in one single image.

The hardest part of early mediumship is simply deciphering what these symbols mean. After years of practice you learn to give meaning to images you see and develop your own mediumship dictionary. This is where studying symbolism is extremely beneficial whether that be dream dictionaries or deciphering the images on tarot, learning to read between the lines to decode the energetic reality is how a medium develops into a mystic.

How do mediums connect to spirit?

By quieting the mind the medium becomes more attuned to subtle impressions, this allows them to discern which thoughts are their own and which come from spirit. The process of connecting varies between practitioners, some may meditate, some simply tune in and some may call on spiritual guidance. We must raise our vibration while the spirit has to lower its vibration to reach us, so it takes two to tango. The higher your vibration is consistently the easier it will be to have a 24/7 connection to your spirit team.

How do mediums get things right?

Mediumship accuracy improves with experience, a skilled medium develops the ability to distinguish between their own imagination and incoming communication from spirit. A good medium typically refers the incoming information back to the client and allows them to confirm or deny if it has any meaning for them. The more a medium is able to decipher the incoming communication the more effective they can be. It’s one thing to receive images, knowing what they mean is another. I have a dream journal and I have dreams recorded that I had 5 years ago that I am still unable to decipher.

A medium has to take extra care to remain grounded, remove all negative inputs and remain in a positive state, they must learn to alchemise negative beliefs into positive emotions, as any form of negativity can be an invitation for malicious spirits to enter your environment.

Are mediums genuine?

Some mediums are genuine, some are frauds and most are real but lack enough experience to communicate effectively. Genuine mediums will encourage your own discernment, they will present evidence and allow you to asses it. Historically mediumship and forms of divination have been plagued with frauds. Mediums should not demand large sums of money, remove curses or bring people back from the dead.

What does the bible say about mediums?

The Old Testament may warn against consulting mediums or necromancers, this concern was raised due to the nature of deception when connecting with the spiritual world. This is where the 10 commandments, the seven sins and the guidance from Jesus Christ came in giving us guidelines to connect with god safely ourselves rather than relying on an external source.

For example if you sin, you open up channels to allow sinful spirits or energies to magnetise to you. By avoiding sin you connect to the highest love based consciousness. If you have anger in your heart you will attract demonic trickster entities that want to influence you to do their bidding. Modern preaches who use fear based preaching are doing the devils work, if you operate from fear instead of love you are following Christianity wrong.

We all have the ability to communicate with a higher source of intelligence, so we should all become our own guides rather than relying on a church for guidance. When you learn to create your own connection to divine intelligence, you become the prophet and you no longer need religion to babysit you. Can you train to be a psychic medium?

Yes we can all develop mediumship abilities with guidance and practice. Development usually involves meditation, awareness exercises, learning psychic protection and learning to decode symbolic impressions. Check your local town for development circles, these are groups of psychic guided by an experienced teacher, whom get together to practice on each other.
